After someone told me about a new release of a spanish web site, www.congreso.es , I felt interested about what kind of accesibility priority has been accepted. It is just an important requirement for us when developing on ONCE Web Site . It should have been at least double AA as official organisms web sites focus on it.

It really impressed to me that it showed WAI certification (A) when HTML code and CSS structure didn´t fit basic WAI guidelines.

If you check HTML code, it starts with HEAD tag. Although a content management generates it, someone should take care about quality assurement.

Alter a few days, they have noticed about that error and WAI certification icons were hidden.

Just an amazing and powerful tool to encourage Macromedia´s users to migrate from their corporative products such as Macromedia Dreamweaver Mx or HomeSite 5.5 or + to the most extended open-source IDE like Eclipse . After testing, I´ll keep using it and leave Macromedia´s ones for a while. It supports snippets, intelligent help and a useful cfc (Coldfusion Component) wizard.

I hope it´s not an error but while I was navigation on bandaancha web site , I detected just debugging information at the top of the page related to MySql String Connection. It consists on publishing user and password to establish connectivity with database server. Today, it´s fool´s day in Spain so thats why I suppose to be a funny thing.

Just a amazing tool to get instant answers to anything you wish to ask. Add "encarta@conversagent.com" as a contact to your friend list in Hotmail Messaging Service and you´ll be able to ask her any questions. Extended functionality is achived only by Hotmail. Below is what I received after testing under Gaim client.

Recently, I was told about this new framework, based on Ruby language . Although, it is not extended enough, it should keep in mind as a web development technology. As a scriptable language, everything is considered as an object and presentation layer results easier and clearer than Coldfusion language is. Event if you pretent to migrate your App from that, I´d rather recommend an article which relates how to achive it and what differences author found.

Just checking the last release of the Developer Toolbar for Internet Explorer, I noticed that something already provided by Firefox´s one was missing. It consists on highligting the HTML code on a new div object created in the document context of the page you are navingating in which renders the text selected.

It gets useful to view some html code pieces without opening entire code page.

Item on the context menu needs to be included by opening windows registry and linking a html page hosted anywhere on your computer.

Microsoft Fiddler on Firefox

Recently, I found on Microsoft web site, the release of a Http debuging tool, Fiddler , something quite similar to HttpWatch software which lets us monitor http responses and requests from client to server. I did not believe why Microsoft did not develop something in order to keep market as Mozilla had with Live Http Headers.
After installing, I found few features were improved rather than HttpWatch had.

The curious thing is that it´s installed as a proxy running on 8888 port which can be configured to work on Firefox browser so those users will keep lucky.

Trying to get further on this Opera technology, conclusion is it is not as complex as you could think. Just using Css and Dom you might get a good approach valid for Mozilla browsers. Firefox Google Searches

According to Google inc, it has been developed a functionality under Mozilla-based browsers that let you preload first result you have executed (Similar to I´m feeling lucky). So far, IE does not support it. It consists on including a link in the headers with 'prefetch value' as follows link rel="prefetch" href="http://www.nasa.gov/"/

Curiously, not any search term will be included it.
'Yahoo', 'Nasa', 'StandFord' will but 'Football' will not. Does anyboy know why it behaves like that?.

Surprisingly, when I enter Gmail, just in GMail one-year birthday,I noticed a small change on the sign-in page. A gift, exposing mailbox storage (2 Gbytes) is increasing to Infinity and a javascript showing the new capacity treat to explain new plans from Google to fight with Yahoo Mail announcement.

Also, it lets you format your emails offering rich text formatting.

Lastly, a new service related to Google Maps is now online. It is called 'Google Rider Finder', a location service which finds any cab or taxi on the area you are looking for. It´s only available in a few states.

Browsers speed tests

It has been made to check how fast they render pages on different platforms. It curiously shows the fact that Opera 6.x and 8 versions can be named as the fastest browsers on Earth. On the other hand, Firefox and Mozilla browsers don´t appear to be on the top at the list about different tests made. I totally agree with this and every single day I get frustrated with FireFox around multimedia environments pages.

First impression at google office on first working day

I'll introduce myself and my new blog. My name is mark jen and i began my life as a googler (or noogler for those of you in the know) today: janurary 17th, 2005. in previous chapters of my life, i'd interned at ibm and worked full time for 18 months at microsoft. so i guess you could say i'm getting first hand experience at three companies who embody the tech company lifecycle - ibm at the tailend of their era; microsoft at the inflection point leading to maturity; and google at the beginning of what would become a new empire.

so what happened today? nothing too exciting. i think new employee orientation is about the same at any company: you show up early, get a security badge, sit through hours of boring presentations and fill out the required paperwork.

cool things about the process at google:

* almost everything is electronic. only four forms need to be printed (two were required by the government; one was the electronic signature authorization form; and of course, the NDA we've all come to know and love)
* my login, badge and workstation were completely ready to go on the first day. you'd think this wouldn't be so hard, but it actually proves to be quite difficult at most companies. to top it all off, my laptop was given to me all setup and in its carrying case with a full complement of goodies :)

now the bad:

* same old 3 hour HR presentation about nothing important in particular

the rest of my day was spent surfing the corporate intranet. this was quite an experience. you'd think that an intranet would typically be oragnized and very cohesive - after all, it's the internal network for a single company. however, google has managed to recreate the chaos of the internet on its internal network. fortunately, they've applied their search engine to help sort through everything. which begs the question - did the intranet become messy becuase google had a great search engine to find things anyways? or would intranets naturally become a mess if not for the fear of creating a huge tangled mess with no search tool to help users?

closing thought: the ibm t41p is truly a laptop done right. i'm not entirely sure why any company would issue anything less to their employees (*ahem* microsoft :p)

Opera 8 and Voice

FireFox faster, really?

I have been reading a lot of posts about improving FireFox downloads. It simply consists on changing 3 configuration parameters. Type about:config in address bar and change 'network.http.pipelining' and 'network.http.proxy.pipelining' to true and 'network.http.pipelining.maxrequests' to 30.It looks easy, doesn´t it?. But, the fact is Mozilla.org considers them as experimental features and they don´t support them so far due to certain servers and proxies could make it work wrong.
How is your experience with them?.

Pocket Pc Emulator

There have been a lot of problems when I decided to install all Pocket Pc 2003 Sdk. It should be enough to boot emulator included in it to start developing, but requirements as Visual Embedded C++ or changes on Visual Studio 2003 installation seemed to be mandatory. It also looks difficult to synchronize with ActiveSync.
At the end, I found something that looks good.

Yahoo has just improved its graphic map tool including real-time traffic information. It gets updated continuosly from several official sources. It is only available in EEUU and Canada so far. Check current traffic jam around Manhhattan , New York.

I continue feeling impatient to test all products from Mozilla Suite. I have just installed Thunderbird and impression was good. Import process worked fine from OutLook and everything looks like there is no mail/address missing. I would not like to keep using without making sure sure to have an utility to put mails back to Outlook later on when I get bored.

How many times have you registered and missed the user/password a week later?. I know most browsers keep passwords in cache and offer the choice to get it back to a document.
I have just developed a tool to interact with the document you are in so wherever you are and need to enter user y password, this is gonna help you out.
Basically, what you must do is,
1. Add a new option into the contextual menu in I.E. (my .reg is valid)
2. Double click in the first input (user) and choose the option 'Autologin'.
3. A layer will display with contents from the login file 'C:\MyLogins.txt' (MSN, YAHOO, TERRA....) which has to be filled out as it follows
YAHOO LOGIN$User$Password$=
MSN LOGIN$User$Password$=
.......
4. A html file which will be launched to process the layers.

Once you click in one option it will be log in automatically.

I have made it work in most mail web sites (Yahoo, Terra, Msn Hotmail...) and will work in Mozilla and GMail later on.

Those must be capable of supporting video streamming and EGDE connection, a high-speed model. Symbian statement tends to explain everybody it can not be described as a virus as it only infects 7610 nokia phones and it spreads by downloading it from a distribution site and ignoring certain security warnings from the mobile phone.
